The Cat and the Carpet

Life is no fun until you have a cat take a nice healthy poop on your hallway carpet, but in all honesty, that's no fun either, especially when it happens quite often. In fact, it's downright irritating. And unfortunately my husband's cat has been doing just that for a while now.

Now before you tell me you know exactly what the problem is, or offer the usual, have you tried this... I'm pretty darn sure it's not what you think. He's an old cat who's dead set in his old ways and has been use to using hallway carpets as his litter box for many years, and no, not my doing!

Now everyone who knows cats, owned them, etc. have tried offering advice on how to solve the problem, but the problem is, I've tried it all and some offered solutions are not possible, or simply causes a whole new list of problems that I'm not willing to begin.

No, I'm just ranting and raving for the moment until the old boy leaves this world. However, I am curious, do you have any animals that possess odd behaviors? I've witnessed my husband's cat climb on our kitchen table and do his business right after I'd pissed him off by kicking him out of the bedroom where he'd been napping on a clean pile of clothes on the bed. Damn cat!

Cats and Heater Vents

I know it's freakin' cold outside and to an older cat it's really cold, but I'm wondering... How do you get a cat to stay off of a particular floor heating vent?

We have a heating vent that sits directly below the kitchen cabinets. When the heater kicks on, the cat's fur flies onto the cabinets and into clean dishes on the dish drain.

We don't mind if the cat sits on any other vent in the house, but he refuses to sleep anywhere else. I've tried spraying him with water, I've tried spraying around the vent with a training aid spray, I've tried picking him up and moving him to another vent when it was on, I've even tried closing the vent. He still sleeps on it.

The only solution I found was to block the vent with a trash can so he couldn't lay on it, but that creates a problem of I can't get to my drawers or cabinets. Plus, one night he was really determined and just moved the trash can out of his way.lol

So I'm running out of options. I really can't move the dish drain and I certainly can't move the cabinets! Anyone else have this problem? Did you find a solution that works?

Pets and Happiness

I have a few friends who live in the United Kingdom and I'm very sure some of them have pets. For most pets keep people company. Especially when you're single. Pets are also good therapy. Here in Independence, Kansas my step-son's teacher from last year has a poodle that he brings to school and uses as a pet therapy dog. The poodle helps to calm down many of the children.

In United Kingdom's k9magazine, there's an article titled, Happiness is Pets. I believe that's true. So many people's lives have been changed because of a cat or a dog or even a pot bellied pig or horse. What do you think?

My House Smells!

About a month ago I was offered the opportunity to sample Renuzit TriScents Starter Kit. When I first received my product I was excited. I had been hoping to kill down some of the odor of the cat litter box in the bathroom. I've tried just about everything else to get rid of the odor, even one of those little stick up things near the litter box. Didn't really work.

So I plugged in the Renuzit TriScents and boy am I impressed. Not only has
Renuzit TriScents scented the entire bathroom, it has scented the hallway as well. Very cool. Very cool indeed.

Now I wouldn't say that Renuzit TriScents removes the odor. It really only masks the odor. But, when you have pets, every little bit helps. So, if you don't have pets, you know this product is going to be awesome in keeping your home smelling deliciously wonderful.

To get an idea of how Renuzit TriScents works, picture three little glass liquid filled bottles that slide into a wall unit box. The wall unit is then plugged into an electrical outlet and you can control the amount of liquid scented freshener that comes out using the the switch on the side of the unit.

If you have a small room and don't need a lot of overpwoering scent, you can slide the control to minimum. If you have a larger room or like a lot of scent, just slide the control to maximum. That's it. The
Renuzit TriScents does the rest of the work by scenting your room in transition with three great scents to keep things fresh and renewed for up to 60 days.

Will I continue to use this product? Absolutely. As a matter of f act I'm a bit dissapointed in my cats because they chewed up my coupon for my next purchase off of Renuzit TriScents's refills. I guess they saw a good thing coming and decided to get rid of what they could.lol

If you're interested, check out www.triscents.com and print out a coupon for a
Renuzit TriScents Starter Kit. It's pretty simple and well worth trying.

Pampering the Cat?

I think we're going to need more than one litter box in our house. I'm the only one who cleans up after the cats and as it stands right now the pet shops or AWOL cannot take anymore animals. So we're stuck with the kittens for now.

Sometimes I really feel like a prisoner in my own home with those little suckers roaming around. I can't go to sleep without them destroying the house and they don't find that the litter box is to their taste. Instead they tend to squat where they shouldn't. So, something has got to be done. I don't know about a fancy litter box like the ones from mycatsheaven.com (too pricey for my taste), but something has got to be done.

Eventually they'll be able to go outside and use the bathroom or maybe by some miracle somebody around here will want a free kitten, but for now we need another litter box.

Caring for the Unusual

My husband and I have a love for stray and unusual animals. It's probably quite obvious since we have a snake, rat, 8 cats and a dog. While we are now trying to adopt out the cats and dog, we'll be keeping the snake and the rat. One of the negative things about a small town is it's not easy finding things like pet supplements for the snake and rat. Even our pet shop is limited on what they carry and with a vehicle that won't even make it out of town, driving to another town is obviously out of the question.

So, about the only thing we can so is order online. I just hope free shipping is available!
