TV Has Changed

I remember growing up watching classic educational shows like Sesame Street. Now kids' shows are nothing but action and violence with no real learning experience other than how to fight. I'm just glad that shows like Sesame Street and their products like Sesame Street gifts at Personal Creations, are still going as strong as ever.

It means a lot that my children are able to experience the same fun educational values as much as I did as a child. So what's your opinion on kids shows from the past and present?

Taming the Big Screen

When my husband decided to buy a new flat screen television with some of the income tax return money, he actually settled on a Samsung due to it's graphic quality. So far the quality still remains great, although it took a while to teach the kids not to touch the screen for fear of damaging it.

And although the television doesn't really get used for a lot of movies, it does get used for plenty of game play.lol All I can say about the matter is it's amazing how easy it is to keep a guy entertained for about $400.lol

Heroes Season 2

As an entertainment treat last month, my husband decided to buy Heroes Season 2 on DVD. I had actually anticipated it to be pretty pricey since it is a newer television series, but we actually got it for only $30 at wal-mart.

When I was still working at Amazon.com, I bought Heroes Season 1 on DVD and paid $50 for it at wal-mart. I could not believe the price drop! Heck, Smallville has been running on television for a while now and many of their older seasons on DVD are still in the price range of $50! So I wonder, what gives?

Anyway, last night we finally watched the last episode of season 2. While it was good, I wasn't as nearly impressed as I was with season 1. I can say that it was worth the purchase on DVD though. The only downfall is we won't be able to see Season 3 until next year because we don't have cable television. Oh well, at least we don't have a cable bill to worry about!

In Plain Sight

Sometimes there are things hidden in Plain Sight that can easily go
unnoticed. Take USA Network's new show for instance, "In Plain Sight." There are photos like the one found at the right of the cast, hidden in plain sight on their website.

Check it Out:

USA Network's new original series In Plain Sight

While you are there, take a look at the new series. There's a free video of the pilot for the show. "In Plain Sight" revolves around a U.S. Marshall named Mary Shannon who works for the wittiness protection program. Because she does, she must make her own life a secret from family and friends in order to protect those who are innocence.

The show looks promising although I have yet to check out the pilot episode. If you do happen to view the show, feel free to leave a comment here and let us know how the show rates.

Stand, Mount and Deliver!

Eventually we'll need a new television. The big screen tv we bought from my brother-in-law just isn't going to last forever. It has already lost one of the colors, so when we're viewing movies (we don't have cable), the color red is missing.

Since flat screen televisions have dropped in price, I was thinking maybe we'll get one and I am sure my husband will agree. The only problem with buying a flat screen tv is, we don't have a stand or a way of mounting it.

Stands and Mounts.com offers some great solutions like a plasma mount. They even offer a $10 price match guarantee. Right now I am really not sure what kind of mount or stand we will need, but it is great knowing that places like Stands and Mounts.com can help with our needs. Especially since we live in a small town and there are no stores that can meet those kinds of needs. That's why we have this little old thing known as the internet!
