Waking Up Dehydrated

Lately I've been waking up dehydrated. I've also found myself wanting more water throughout the day.

Unfortunately, I'm also one of those individuals who forgets to drink enough water to keep myself hydrated. The good news is, I'm one of those girls who loves water! I don't need flavored water or the simple addition of a lemon slice to add to it. I can drink it simple and plain and still really enjoy it.

I grew up loving water because I didn't like sweet drinks. My parents tried to give me soda when I was younger, but I was never a fan of the stuff. It just seemed to dehydrate me more, just as sweet tea and other flavored drinks like kool-aid did.

I guess in reality, I was setting myself up as an adult for a healthier lifestyle. Now don't get me wrong, coffee with flavored creamer was one of those exceptions to the rules as well as a good beer or mixed drink.

Over time I had to give those up as well because my bladder said so, and as we know when our bodies are trying to tell us something, we damn well better be listening if we don't want to find ourselves in an early grave!

Yet I still had this teeny tiny problem for not drinking enough water! Okay, so maybe it's a bigger problem than I thought!

For one, I have ADHD and let me tell you it's a battle that I may never win! But, I'm determined when it comes to my health, and yes I have fall off the bandwagon more than once. I am not perfect and will never claim to be!

So I was searching apps for my phone and may have found one that will help remind me to drink more water. I'm just tired of being tired, sick of my severe dry skin that now even effects me during the warmer days.....

I mean I know I have a skin disease, but something's got to give! Plus that darn thing we see very rare of and like to call energy, would be so nice! I'll let you know how my progress goes, if I can remember!

Where's the Pool

Everyone has been asking where our pool is since most of our friends and family knows we own one. We have it. It's just in the garage and I have yet to drag the bulky thing out to use it because the hubby keeps saying no.

And it's not because it's in need of any major parts like pool pumps. All our pool simply needs is a filter and we can be playing in water for the rest of the summer. But it's going to take a great deal of convincing to get the hubby to budge and even if I did go out and purchase a filter for the water, chances are he's still going to say no because he simply feels like it.

Water and Bubble Fun

A few months ago I received to Spinmaster products, Aquadoodle and Bath Blizzard to review. Both are creative toys that keep kids busy with play. And while that may be true for some, it's not for all.

The Aquadoodle is an excellent toy if you don't have a child who is
n't picky about their artwork. The drawback is the water pen that the mat uses isn't going to keep picky artists happy since one mistake and your child will have to wait for it to dry. And by that time the entire drawing is gone. Another problem is if your kids are like mine, they like to hang their artwork up for display and obviously it's not an option. Aside from that, the Aquadoodle is a great choice for those with kids who draw all over everything. There's no mess or clean up which is great!

The Bath Blizzard my step-kids were not impressed with. Maybe it's the type of bubble bath that the Blizzard comes with, but her complaint was it didn't make enough bubbles and she was right! The good news is it's really about the only complaint she had. Unfortunately it was also only a one time attention grabber since it doesn't produce many bubbles. The one thing I did notice however, the bubble action does last about 10 minutes longer than what is stated in the product manual.

All in all I think if you have kids that are still young enough not to care about drawing mistakes or big bubbles, these products will be some awesome entertainment for your child!

A New Day, Not Much Has Changed

It's a new day here, but not much has changed. The shut the pump to the water off at 3am this morning, but they turned it back on around 1pm this afternoon. We now have water, but we must boil it before it can be used.I've learned that my hometown where several family members and friends live, has contaminated water. They are being advised not to touch the water because of risk of disease. Also the city fears there is something in the air that could possibly make people sick, but they say so far it won't.

It has been raining on and off today. The good news is, the water that was two blocks away from us is gone. We're not out of the water yet, however. It will get worse they are saying, before it gets better.

On a brighter note, I am experimenting with a new feature that will allow my page to load faster. It's the Read on link and should open in a new window. The only downfall that I have found is, it can't be used in windows live writer. Or can it? Does anyone know if this will work with it? I've grown attached to windows live writer and really enjoy using it. I also fear that it may cause problems with Pay Per Post. Does anyone know if it's a problem for them? Some feedback would greatly be appreciated!

When it Rains it Floods

Kansas Flooding If you've been watching the news, where I live, many areas of the city are completely under water. Right now we're only safe because we're on high grounds. Yesterday they evacuated about 100 people here and announced that anyone in a low rise area needed to evacuate immediately. Today they announced the water supply is being cut back considerably because the pump is being shut off. Looking out my front door, the water is about 3 blocks from us. The river is 4 blocks from us, so I'm assuming that's where the source of the water is coming from. My concern is my family who live in Coffeyville. They have no power there and they are under water on the east side. My aunt lives on the west side and the water is reaching her backyard and heading for her house. She has left her house. The ambulances went down the streets last night around 11pm and told people there to evacuate. The town of Fredonia is gone. The picture you see was taken by a Kansas resident. I'm not sure what area this is. I do know that South 11th street here in town is that high up. Fredonia is worse. The water has risen nearly up to the power lines. We have a friend who's parents live in Fredonia, so we are hoping they are okay. Neodesha is partially underwater. My fiance's sister lives there. She's on higher ground and is okay right now. We're all just hoping that it doesn't rain anymore. sigh.
