That's What You Get For Using a Free Email Account

Yahoo is one of the most popular and well used free email accounts that I know of, but it's also one of the most notorious for spam and lots of it.

If you're planning to use Yahoo as your primary email address for your writing business like I do, there are a few things you should keep in mind.

While spam is nearly impossible to eliminate all together, you can minimize it by giving out your email address only to your clients and your agent or publisher who might need a way to contact you online.

Don't use your email address to sign up for writing programs, subscribe to blogs or other related writing activity. While it may seem like a good idea, it can also lead to unwanted spam. Make a separate account for those activities.

Never give out your email address to those free offers or product orders, etc. Create a junk mail account for this.

Keep your writing business account separate from your personal account that you may want to use to keep in touch with family and friends. This should also be a rule for your fans you'll want to keep in touch with.

And finally, it is always a good idea to create a paid account for your writing business once you can afford to do so. Not only will it eliminate a majority of spam, it's also more professional on your image verses a popular free email account like yahoo.

Mermaid or Whale?

This was an email that was shared with me. They are not my words, yet I find this little story inspiring, don't you?

Recently, in a large city in Australia ,
a poster featuring a young, thin and tan woman appeared in the window of a gym.
It said, "This summer, do you want to be a mermaid or a whale?"

A middle-aged woman,
whose physical characteristics did not match those of the woman on the poster,
responded publicly to the question
posed by the gym.

To Whom It May Concern,
Whales are always surrounded by friends (dolphins, sea lions, curious humans.)
They have an active sex life,
get pregnant and have adorable baby whales.
They have a wonderful time with dolphins stuffing themselves with shrimp.
They play and swim in the seas,
seeing wonderful places like Patagonia ,
the Bering Sea
and the coral reefs of Polynesia ..
Whales are wonderful singers
and have even recorded CDs.
They are incredible creatures
and virtually have no predators
other than humans.
They are loved, protected and admired
by almost everyone in the world.

Mermaids don't exist.
If they did exist,
they would be lining up outside the offices
of Argentinean psychoanalysts
due to identity crisis. Fish or human?
They don't have a sex life
because they kill men who get close to them, not to mention how could they have sex?
Therefore, they don't have kids either.
Not to mention,
who wants to get close to a girl who smells
like a fish store?

The choice is perfectly clear to me:
I want to be a whale.

P..S. We are in an age
when media puts into our heads
the idea that only skinny people are beautiful, but
I prefer to enjoy an ice cream with my kids,
a good dinner with a man who makes me shiver, and
a piece of chocolate with my friends.
With time, we gain weight
because we accumulate so much information and wisdom in our heads
that when there is no more room,
it distributes out to the rest of our bodies.
So we aren't heavy,
we are-- enormously cultured,
educated and happy.
Beginning today, when I look at my butt in the mirror I will think,
"Good grief, look how smart I am!"

1292 Emails Behind in Life

People wonder why I rarely play games online. Well, my 1292 emails in my inbox is a big part of the reason why.lol In addition to trying to get all of my emails caught up, I now work a full-time job away from home and still do some reviews for a few companies here and there.

Now, that's not counting, cooking, cleaning and repairing the house. So, time is very limited for me and computer games are not included in that time slot.
