No Laptop Memory, No Fun Games

Not too long after Christmas, I got the pc game, Prison Tycoon. I love games where you have to build things and help keep an eye on things. So the tycoon games are awesome. Well, to make a long story short, my Prison Tycoon game wouldn't run because I didn't have enough laptop memory. And as insane as it is, my laptop is barely 4 years old! But yeah, my Averatec Laptop can't even handle Vista. So here I am, still running XP on it.

So I guess, until I get a new laptop (it won't hold more memory), I'm not able to enjoy the games that I love on here. Such a shame because I could use some stress relief every now and then. Oh Well.... there is always my writing!

My Laptop Crashed

A little less than an hour ago my laptop crashed. It's been crashing on me for about a week now. Not good. Not good at all. While some may think that memory is an issue. It's not. Not that I don't need memory.

The reason my laptop keeps crashing is because I've been running it more often for at least 10 hours straight a day so that I can make money online. The laptop overheats and shuts down automatically to protect itself. Unfortunately every time it does that it causes more problems. I have a cooling pad that sets underneath it with two fans running, but anymore that doesn't seem to be enough. So eventually I am going to need a new laptop. Preferably a Sony. Well, one of these days when I am rich and famous. HA!

Averatec 3200 and memory upgrades

My averatec 3200 laptop has been giving me a lot of problems lately. The most recent trouble being, it will shut down when I'm in the middle of watching a video like abc's extreme makeover: home edition. A few days ago I went through and defragged the hard drive and I even went as far as cleaning dust from the laptop ad the cooling fans. For a while, it helped, but I've still noticed it lags behind.

I've mentioned it in the past, and I still wonder if maybe there is a problem with my laptop's system memory. I'm pretty sure that even if that isn't the exact problem with my laptop, it could use new memory, anyway.

I noticed that Buy.com has a decent selection of memory and reasonable prices, some even with free shipping. How insane is that?

I just wonder if they have anything for my averatec 3200 piece of junk. Well, it never hurts to take a look.

No Ram for Me

Lately I've been noticing that my laptop has been crashing more than usual. I'm used to it since it's on my piece of junk list, but this is just beyond it's regular routine. At first I thought it was the laptop overheating, but as it turns out, that isn't the case.

I am now wondering if this pain in the butt laptop just needs more ram. Actually, I am pretty sure it does since it will only play minimal games and load very few programs without crashing. The one thing I worry about though, is whether or not I can find ram that is compatible for this piece of junk averatec laptop. 4 All Memory seemed to be a good source for that department, but as I found out, they don't carry ram for my 3200 series.

However, they do carry a lot of other manufacturers and since my laptop is about 7 years old now, it's possible that no one will carry what I need. I think it's time I just trade this averatec in for a new laptop. Preferably a Sony.

Upgrading Memory

I've often wondered about IBM computers. Are they any good? How well do they perform? What about IBM memory? Can I upgrade easily? Eventually I am going to need a new computer, so with it I know I will want to upgrade my memory. The memory store has a nice selection of memory upgrades, even if your computer isn't an IBM. Plus they have a customer service line if you're not sure what memory upgrade you need.

With all of the junk I have on my laptop plus games and work, a decent amount of memory is a must! I have to admit however, I've been looking hard at a Sony laptop..hehe Well, maybe someday.
