Meanwhile the widow is in complete shock at what he has said to her. This brings back her own memories of the child she had had that had died. She had been dating an under ranking politic and had gotten pregnant. He had not wanted to keep the baby and she had. There was a lot of argument over it and she had finally won in the end. She learned she was going to have a boy. When it came time for the birth the baby was born and whisked away without a word. She was never able to see the baby and then she’d learned the baby had died from complications and had not been allowed to see the baby because they needed to do a complete analysis on him and had already whisked him away. Her boyfriend was sadden by the news and made funeral arrangements. He’d decided he wanted the baby cremated because he couldn’t bare to see it before she’d had any say in it. Over the years she finally stopped going by the grave because she couldn’t bare it any longer.

The Mechanic -3
Another scene from another novel I was working on. Keep in mind it's only a rough draft.

The Mechanic
This is another novel I'm working on. Let me know what you think.
She doesn’t open the door though and asks what he wants. “You. This is all your fault.” He’s angry now and she’s worried and tells him she’s going to call the cops. He laughs at this and says it wouldn’t be a first and certainly wouldn’t be a last. Now she is angry and tells him he has no reason/right to have a child in his home. “That child. Is my daughter!” He shouts and storms off. She is shocked and he has just realized what he has said. He tries to shake his head to clear everything and when it doesn’t work he calls his ex again. This time she answers the phone. He stumbles out his words and says, “A daughter.” Her response is, “What?” “Daughter. Did you give up our daughter?” “What? What are you talking about.” She says. Now he is more frustrated. “Daughter damn it!” “The past is done (his name.) I have no fucking daughter.” She screams into the phone and hangs up on him. He is at a lost for words at what she has just said. He looks at the phone and then slowly hangs up the receiver. Then he walks around in a daze until he decides to sit down on his couch where he passes out.

The Mechanic
It was all old lady Hallod’s fault. If she hadn’t called the cops he wouldn’t be in this mess and he certainly wouldn’t have downed a six pack. What the hell did she know anyway. He slammed his fist into her front door and shouted her name.
“Open the hell up!”
“How dare you show up at my front door drunk and stupid.” He heard her say from the other side. Stupid?
“You. This is your fault.”
“If you don’t get away from my door I’m calling the cops.”
“Wouldn’t be a first you old hag.” He laughed.
“I called them for a very good reason. That child didn’t need to be in your home.”
“Why because I ride a bike. I work in a shop. Maybe you’d prefer I install walk in tubs for a living. Would that ease your mind.” He slurred.
“I don’t care what you do for a living Mr. Rouder. That child does not belong in your home.”
“That child is my daughter!” He shouted as he stumbled off her porch in anger. He was done talking to her. What he needed was a lawyer. He needed his little girl home where she belonged.
