Thrifty Downtown Shopping

Last week the other half and I went downtown to look around at some of the new stores opening up. There are so many thrift stores and flea markets opening up that it's almost unreal. But the one place we'd happen to stop in that has actually been around for years was an entertainment store where we found several entertainment centers that interested us.

Now where that's coming out of our budget from, I have no idea, but he saw, he wanted and he's determined.lol And mind you, he already bought a new tv, coffee table with storage and his new gaming unit.lol And if he buys the one he's interested in, this house will be dark 24/7 because it will take up the only big window we have in the living room. Hmm. We'll see.

Our Weekend Entertainment Splurge

Since we had a blockbuster coupon for a 99 cent rental and an unlimited rentals coupon for $1.99 my husband and I decided to take advantage of the savings and rent a few movies over the weekend.

The weekend before last we rented Babylon A.D. starring actor Vin Disel. Unfortunately I have never seen the Babylon television series, so I really don't know how well it goes along with that. I can say it was a fairly enjoyable movie that reminded me a lot of his character Riddick from the Pitch Black and Chronicles movies. If you want to know more about the movie, my recommendation is to head to the Babylon A.D. link. I'm not good with giving out details and not spoiling a plot.lol I can tell you this, if you like the Riddick movies, you'll enjoy Babylon A.D.

Another movie we saw over the weekends this month was My Best Friend's Girl. It's a HA HA comedy starring actress Kate Hudson. When we rented it, we were told by the employees at blockbuster that it wasn't a great movie. However, we really enjoyed it. But, if you're offended by sexual humor then I don't recommend this movie because that's what the entire movie is about! The guy goes on dates with other guys' girls to try to make them lousy and get the girls to go running back to their old boyfriends.

And finally, Mirrors. This was probably my second fave out of the three of these movies. It's a horror movie starring actor Kiefer Sutherland. I like Kiefer Sutherland despite his baby boy image and it's been a while since I've seen him in anything really good. And I was not disappointed! While it's not the type that will jump right out and scare you, it's still twisted and the ending is a tear jerker.

Paintball and Lay Offs

A while back my hubby was talking about paintball and opening a field here with his brother. He wanted to look at different equipment like a paintball sniper, tanks and masks. His idea was to use the income tax return to get started. He even went as far as scouting for the land. But, then his talk stopped and he was back to just talking about work.

So I really wonder if he would have ever gone through with his plans. I still wonder, so maybe? But, now that there's talk of lay offs at work, I wonder if he'll try something new or if we'll have the money to really do something like that.

Right now I don't think owning a paintball field would be a good idea because sales wouldn't be very good. People love entertainment, but when it costs money and there's very little of that, it doesn't work out. Still there's nothing wrong with playing even if that means buying new paintball equipment.

It's still too early to know, but my hubby is still at risk for a lay off. He and his dad were discussing it last night and the earliest he'll know anything is this week or next.

A Branson, Missouri Getaway.

A while back I talked about a vacation closer to home on my blog. While it may not be my grand island vacation I've always wanted, Branson, Missouri offers a vacation that is closer to home.

Another reason I can easily consider Branson as a next vacation is the fact that I've been there on more than one occasion. Take Silver Dollar City for instance. If you're a family that happens to love theme parks and lives in the area or not! -you're bound to make Silver Dollar City one of your many stops. The Ozark based theme park is not the only attraction in Branson, however.

Branson, Missouri also offers some of the greatest country and western shows right at your front door. Branson is home to legendary stars like the Oakridge Boys, Jim Owen and Mickey Gilley.
Not a country music fan? Don't worry. Branson offers a wide variety of musical entertainment, so there is sure to be something for everyone.

Love Museums? Then, you definitely have to check out the Ripley's Believe it Or Not Museum. That's the one museum I have yet to visit, so it will definitely be one of my first stops on my next visit there. I can't wait!

My To-Do List

One of the things on my to-do list is buying a home entertainment theater. It's something I've just always wanted. Even though that someday will more than likely be a while, it doesn't hurt to look around. Right now Stands and Mounts is offering some great ideas for a home entertainment theater. Just check out their home theater chairs! Pretty cool I think. I can already imagine that my husband is going to love the idea of a gaming chair.lol Well at least shipping is free! If you're a big gamer like my husband is, this may very well be an idea place to stop by.
