The patio furniture looked old and worn as if it'd come from another time, another place. And she would bet it had, even though not many here would admit to that fact.
She looked around some more and saw that someone had tied a live rooster up to the pole. Shaking her head she made her way toward the over-sized bird to free it when a well dressed man with short dark hair placed his hand on her arm and said, "Don't. It's a symbol. It means the future is bright. They'll let him go at the end of the day."
"Oh." she shook her arm loose, ignoring the sudden tingling that surged through her body from his touch.
"You want to follow me?" He asked pointing her away from the rooster who was now crowing and seemed very content with making noise than worrying about being tied to the pole. She started to shake her head at the handsome man until he chuckled at her reaction and said, "Don't worry. I know you're a volunteer. I'm a head volunteer, so I get to show all the new people the ropes." She nodded and then smiled as he led the way as he continued his conversation. "There are a lot of people here that need our help. Thank you for being a part of this by the way. I just hope we're not too late. We're losing them to the drug more and more by the hours."

The Bare Deck
We have a bare deck. It's slowly starting to fall apart. At one time before the floods began and when the weather wasn't an unbearable 103 degrees, we had ideas and wanted to install and hot tub and some patio furniture on that deck. We would have needed accessories like patio furniture covers from places like Cozy Days, and a really nice grill to enjoy summer with. I could have imagined yummy grilled veggies and relaxing days away from having to cook on the stove under a cooled patio set thanks to those furniture covers.
Now, we're just trying to fight the heat with a broken Central Air Unit and enjoy our pool when the sun goes down and the mosquitoes come out. So, how's your summer going for you so far?

Summer Dreams
One of the first things my husband and I talked about was updating our backyard. Of course now that the economy has hit home, those summer dreams of patio chairs and a table have been put on hold. There's also talk of a fire pit and Jacuzzi which would definitely be nice! Well, maybe some day when things get better. Who knows. Until then there is always a little thing called window shopping!
