I Use to Love the Smell of a Good Cigar

Over the years, I've had to learn to tolerate smoking. And back in high school, believe it or not, I actually smoked for a short while until I learned I was pregnant with my oldest son, Chris. Now today, I can't stand to be around smoke of any kind, even though I didn't use to mind those who smoked products like Dutch Master cigars. In fact, my grandfather, whom I was very close to, was a cigar smoker.

But now, even those bother me and I can always tell when someone has been smoking. I can even tell when they have it in their clothes. And forget being near anyone who's smoking because most of the time I find myself hacking up a lung or two.

And yes, I understand it's an addiction, but I wonder how can they do it? I mean what if you have kids? My husband actually stopped smoking around the kids and in the house because he understands it's not good for them. Heck, it's not good for anyone!

I'll be quite honest, while I don't believe smoking should have been banned from places like bars, I'm glad it's been banned everywhere else! Okay, I think I've put enough of my two cents in for today.

Some Changes in Life

Over the past few days I've managed to start taking better care of myself when it comes to eating and exercise. I started making healthy smoothies for breakfast (I've been using the yoplait smoothie mix and my new blender!) and I've been checking out various exercise videos online.

However, today I didn't do either. Instead I overslept, skipped breakfast and skipped my workout. I wasn't really busy either, that was the sad part of it. It was because my husband was home. He's not fond of smoothies (not that I'm asking him to drink any of them) and he most certainly told me, Hell, No when I mentioned getting tofu for my smoothies today.lol So I fear he'll laugh and grumble about my workout adventure as well.

I guess he's in somewhat of a cranky mood because he's actually talking about giving up smoking. I think the earth stood still when he announced that.

No Smoking in Utah

If you're a smoker and heading to Utah anytime soon, you might want to steer clear of Beaver, Utah. It seems that the good folks of Beaver, Utah will not only raise their prices in a heartbeat, if you're a smoker, they'll give you a threatening stare and warn everyone in town that you're there.

I had never heard of a non-smoking community, but a while back my boss stopped in Beaver, Utah, hoping to get some sleep for the night. When she lit a cigarette, she was given some pretty bad looks and then when she headed for a hotel for the night, the clerk informed her that she was raising the room price because they didn't like her kind in their town. After learned why they didn't like her kind in their town, my boss decided her life was more important than a full night's sleep.

I've known communities that don't allow drinking, but smoking? And then there are those prejudice towns who will leave nasty signs to warn those they don't want to stay clear of their town or else. What is this insane ass world coming to anyway?
