Yes, I can agree Leonardo Dicaprio had several great movies, like:
- The Quick and the Dead
- This Boy's Life
- The Man in the Iron Mask
- The Basketball Diaries
- The Beach
- Blood Diamond
- Romeo + Juliet
- What's Eating Gilbert Grape
- Catch Me If You Can
- Titanic
As you can see, the actor had a variety of roles over the years that fans cherished him for. But in the more recent years, Leonardo Dicaprio hasn't been doing as well in his chosen roles, or at least that's how I viewed it. Maybe it's just my own personal opinion, but even his most recent movie "The Aviator", wasn't an eye-catcher flick for me. In fact, since the release of the movie, I've lost interest in his acting. "The Aviator" I honestly found to be quite boring.
And let me tell you, it wasn't that I just wasn't giving his work a chance. I considered the idea that maybe, just maybe I had outgrown the actor or his latest movie just wasn't a role I found to be my style. Unfortunatly, I came to the conculsion that it wasn't that I had outgrown his chosen roles or that "The Aviator" just wasn't my cup of tea. After his more recent role, I waited and watched two other movies, The Departed, which wasn't boring, but also didn't hold my interest, and "Revolutionary Road" with "Titanic" co-star Kate Winslet, which I found to be as boring as "The Aviator."
So I wonder is it just me? Opinons anyone? What are your thoughts about the actor? I do understand his passion and involvement for the earth, but maybe there's a possibility that he's just grown tired of acting? No matter the reason, I hope for his sake he can continue to pull off his success as an actor (not a boy toy) and environmentalist in the years to come. After all, what better role model whom he idolizes in a sense than actor Robert De Niro who is still loved by fans and the entertainment industry to this day.

actually, I think he's done fantastic lately, He was nominated for numerous awards including the Academy Awards for The Aviator. And the past year, he had two amazing performances in The Departed and Blood Diamond, the latter for which he again received an Academy Award nomination. Not too shabby. In hollywood, Leonardo is regarded as one of the top actors right now and he's at the top of his game.
ReplyDeleteAhh... Well I am glad then that there are fans who do still enjoy his work. I think maybe it's just the roles he's chosen that I don't find interesting enough anymore. Thank you for your insight! :)
ReplyDeleteI tend to agree, and still haven't seen The Aviator (or Titanic!)yet.
ReplyDeleteI did think he was excellent in The Departed, though. I had to see what all the hype was about, and wanted to see my hometown on the big screen.
Blood Diamond is on my list, although not b/c Leo is in it.
Titanic is a good movie. I also enjoyed Blood Diamond, but I'm wondering if he has just grown tired of acting over the years and is more focused on the earth.
