Acting Dreams and Writing My Novel

There are a lot of goals that I want to accomplish in my life. At one time, acting was one of them. I had actually gotten as far as heading to modeling school, but after graduation acting was never brought up with the company. It was a bit of a disappointment.

Eventually I moved to Las Vegas and then considered a move to California. However, I moved back to the midwest due to family issues. So I don't really know if I'll ever get a chance to do any acting.

I will however publish my novel one of these days and when I do, I hope to see it on the big screen. That may be a big stretch, but maybe a small moving making company might run across it, you know?

Anyway, I'm rambling. The reason I was thinking about all of that was because of my DVD burner. I've never used it and wondered if I would ever have the opportunity to do so. Right now I don't even have a good video camera to record with.lol I have however seen a lot of online websites like Burn2DVD.com that will allow people who don't have a burner to burn DVDs. Pretty cool, but I don't know too many people who don't already have a built in one in their laptop or computer! Still, it's a neat idea and once again I'm rambling.lol

You're Damn Right!

I was reading a recent article on actor Jerry Lewis (no he's not in trouble for carrying heat again!)and I must say, WELL SAID!!

When Jerry Lewis was asked about retirement by the media he wanted to know why. I have to agree. Why would you want to stop doing something you love even at the age of 82. I know I certainly don't plan to give up my writing when I'm in my 80's or beyond! I think it is wonderful that he is getting out there and being active in the things he loves. I only wish my grandmother would have done the same.

Sadly instead, she stayed in her house for the last few years of her life and never really went outdoors unless she was forced to. It was so bad that at one point she even refused to go outside and check her mail. She missed a lot and I wonder in the end if she regretted it.

I don't know about you, but I don't plan on leaving this world lying down.

Whatever happened to Actor Leonardo Dicaprio?

Years ago, several friends and I gathered together to share a love for actor Leonardo Dicaprio and his works. It was right around the time he hit it big with his movie, Titanic. For some of us, it was his handsome face that caught our attention, for others it was simply his acting. But for most it was definetly those handsome features! For me however, it was his approach towards the media and his love for our earth.

Yes, I can agree Leonardo Dicaprio had several great movies, like:

  •  The Quick and the Dead
  • This Boy's Life
  • The Man in the Iron Mask
  • The Basketball Diaries
  • The Beach
  • Blood Diamond
  • Romeo + Juliet
  • What's Eating Gilbert Grape
  • Catch Me If You Can
  • Titanic
As you can see, the actor had a variety of roles over the years that fans cherished him for. But in the more recent years, Leonardo Dicaprio hasn't been doing as well in his chosen roles, or at least that's how I viewed it. Maybe it's just my own personal opinion, but even his most recent movie "The Aviator", wasn't an eye-catcher flick for me. In fact, since the release of the movie, I've lost interest in his acting. "The Aviator" I honestly found to be quite boring.

And let me tell you, it wasn't that I just wasn't giving his work a chance. I considered the idea that maybe, just maybe I had outgrown the actor or his latest movie just wasn't a role I found to be my style. Unfortunatly, I came to the conculsion that it wasn't that I had outgrown his chosen roles or that "The Aviator" just wasn't my cup of tea. After his more recent role, I waited and watched two other movies, The Departed, which  wasn't boring, but also didn't hold my interest, and "Revolutionary Road" with "Titanic" co-star Kate Winslet, which I found to be as boring as "The Aviator."

So I wonder is it just me? Opinons anyone? What are your thoughts about the actor? I do understand his passion and involvement for the earth, but maybe there's a possibility that he's just grown tired of acting?  No matter the reason, I hope for his sake he can continue to pull off his success as an actor (not a boy toy)  and environmentalist  in the years to come. After all, what better role model whom he idolizes in a sense than actor Robert De Niro who is still loved by fans and the entertainment industry to this day.
