Let Them Be Happy. Let Them Live

In my 33 years of living, I have came across a lot of interesting people. Many now that I consider as friends. Some have the perfect bodies and are always complaining about this and that, while others are not so perfect and find themselves being treated differently, when in this insane world, they are not so different from you and I.

The one thing that really bothers me is when parents treat children with disabilities as if they are incapable of being as equal to their siblings or family. A few days ago I was talking with a dear friend of mine who is like a big sister to me. Well, in reality she is my big sister, despite the fact that we do not share the same blood. She has Cerebral Palsy. While cerebral palsy can have a crippling affect on the body, it does not have a crippling affect on the mind or the heart.

Yet, her family treats her as if it does. They assume that because she is in a wheelchair, she cannot think for herself, which is entirely untrue! So during some social events, she is left in a corner and ignored. And if she tries to stand up for herself and say, HEY I'M HERE! in her own way, the one way she is able to communicate is taken away, her computer. Now what makes me even more angry is that this beautiful sis of mine is older than I am!

She has never even been in a relationship, simply because her family will not allow it. What makes them think they have every right to live her life. She is not happy because she cannot be herself, yet when she tries to express that, they get angry with her. It makes me ill to know that there are parents who refuse to allow their children to be the best that they can be. Please, take your blinders off. Let your children be themselves. Let them be happy. It's their life, not yours.

A Thank You and a Crap!! Moment

I want to thank all of those who listened to my unorganized radio show yesterday afternoon. When time permits I plan to put up an interview with my good friend Angela Fleming, so be sure to check back here for that.

Also, if you have an idea for next week's show, feel free to leave a comment here. If I use your idea I'll mention you and your website on the show as well as post a link here and on the radio's website.

After the show, all seemed to go well. My fiance came home and we enjoyed a night out at the movies ($2 per person!) to see Wild Hogs.

If you haven't seen it, I definitely recommend you go! It stars, Tim Allen, John Travolta, Martin Lawrence and William H. Macy. The movie is about best friends (wannabe bikers) who decide to hit the open road on their bikes and experience life.

By the way William H. Macy stars in a really great movie called, "Door to Door" where he plays a character who's a door to door salesman stricken with cerebral palsy. It's based on a true story. It's a wonderful, touching movie! It's the same disease that my friend Angela Fleming has.

After the movie we decided to finish up dishes and make a trip downstairs to put away some things in the basement. To our horror a section of the basement floor was covered in soapy water! After some investigation we discovered that the kitchen sink is backing up into the basement's drainage pipe. Sigh. So after work today, we're headed to good old wal-mart to see if we can fix the problem ourselves. Sooooooooo Much Funnnnnnnnnnn! Yep, that's what we get for wanting to buy a house! LOL

Get Off The Air!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, HA HA Just Kidding. No one has said that to me yet! I just completed my first show for The Insane Writer. I know there was a lot of stumbling, so I hope you'll forgive me and keep listening in the future. Thank you to those who joined my show. In the future I'll be more organized on topics for the show and more about writing.

A Big Thank You to my Guest, Angela Fleming. She has asked that I talked about Pretty Girls VS. Plain Girls and how men treat them differently, so if you'd like to get involved in my discussion on it, drop in next Tuesday (April 17th) at 3pm Kansas Time for my show.

For those of you who do not know, Angela has Cerebral Palsy. I know I pronounce it differently, forgive me. Anyway, what I would like to do is include her on another show as a guest again. This time however, I'd like to do an interview with her for the show. It's just one of the many shows I would like to do. I would also like to invite other guests to the show and interview them as well.

Now, without further ado I'd like to introduce you to Angela. You can visit her myspace page at: www.myspace.com/af13rose Please feel free to drop her a line and say hello to her.

Okay folks, that's it for today. Back to my writing job and back to real life!!!
