This Morning I Noticed

It never dawned on me just how ugly and small our bathrooms' medicine cabinets are until I opened one of them this morning and everything came tumbling out of it.

Seriously. There's barely enough room in there for our bathroom essentials and I noticed that the cabinet is starting to rust. Hmm I wonder if that could be a problem for things like razors or medicines.

Now the kids' bathroom medicine cabinet is a bit bigger, but it's rusting just as badly as ours. But unfortunately, the kitchen has taken top priority when it comes to updating our house. So, for now we'll just have to deal with the small and ugly bathroom medicine cabinets that we have.

Profiting From Flipping

As odd as it may seem, I actually love remodeling. In fact, I've considered buying homes at cheap prices and flipping them for a profit. But when you have so many great products for the home to choose from like for example, Kohler kitchen sinks, it's hard not to want to spend a lot of money, which of course can create a loss for profit if you're not careful.

So I think the really nice products should be saved for my own home for now. And of course right now, I can't even consider doing anything of that, but who knows... maybe someday!

Out of curiosity, do you have any hobbies that you have considered turning into a business or have already turned into one?

Everything But the Kitchen Sinks

When I went to yard sales today, I think I found everything, but the kitchen sinks.lol It's amazing what you can find at yard sales and I kept thinking this would be a great way to remodel a kitchen if you could find things that you really needed.

I know a while back I was really excited about working on my kitchen. I ended up putting it on hold for both financial and personal reasons.

I really don't know if I'll ever get started on the kitchen again, but when I do, I already know I don't just want anything and everything going into the kitchen. Especially when it comes to cabinets and sinks. I actually thought about just using the cabinets we have to save some money and I think the sink might be the same situation.

It really isn't in bad shape at all and all it would need is a new faucet. Maybe, who knows!

Working on the Kitchen

One of the things I have been doing lately is remodeling the kitchen. Just repainting a shelf right now. The reason for this is because the house is slowly fall a part and it needs new things like kitchen faucets, etc. Right now the kitchen sink faucet only leaks when you turn it on, which means it probably just needs a new seal, but eventually I'd like to change out the faucet into something a little nicer.

The husband has already said he doesn't want to spend a lot of money remodeling this house and then talked about get windows that cost $3000 each.lol But I don't plan on spending thousands of dollars on one simple thing. I think that's a bit too much and would never sale in this neighborhood.

However, I don't see any harm in spending reasonable to make improvements on the home. And right now I don't think we'll be selling this house anyway since we don't have any plans to move. But in the future, who knows!

painting the display shelf

There is a display shelf on my wall that is a country blue. I’m not a fan of country themes inside of the home and my husband and I loved the idea of a cappuccino theme in the kitchen. So, last week I bought a small can of black paint for the display shelf that sits above the lone cabinet counter top. So far I’ve only managed to get a few of the bottoms boards completely painted. My husband suggested priming it and I’m beginning to think it would have been a good idea. I’m already through a half a can of pint sized paint and not even half done with the shelf!

Once I get all of the painting done, I want to create a backboard for the shelf. Currently there is none and the country flowered themes wallpaper seeps through it. I was looking at contact paper, but our local wal-mart doesn’t carry anything that would go with our theme and there are no wallpaper stores around here. I was thinking about looking online for some. I just don’t want to pay big bucks!

I was also thinking about screwing in coffee cups hooks on the bottom boards since this is the areas where our coffee and tea bar will go. Easy access to our favorite everyday coffee cups!

Toilets. The Centerpiece of Tomorrow.

Since when did toilets become the centerpiece of a bathroom? I guess some places are hoping for just that. And it certainly can't be any worse than the toilet restaurant that John Chow talked about. Eating out of toilet bowls and sitting on them. Yeah I'd probably go there. But for now.....

Ummm well, I just need a toilet that won't cost a ridiculous price, use a lot of water and works! Is that too much to ask for?

Right now both of our toilets have gone down the shitter, literally. One doesn't like flushing and the other likes to constantly run. So either way we go it's a bad deal. So one of these days we're going to need to replace both toilets. I'm sort of dreading when that time comes because I already know they're going to cost at least $100 a piece. Unless, I can find them at a garage sale.

Walk-in Tub Luxury

A while back I was talking to a friend who is remodeling his home and wanted to get a walk-in tub for his mom's bathroom. I'm not sure what became of his idea, but A&R Wholesale has a nice selection of walk in tubs. They even have a promo code that allows you to save instantly on any tub purchase. How cool is that?? If you or someone you know would love to have a walk-in tub, check them out.

My Dream Bathroom

Okay, since I just learned that my husband will be a little late coming home from work, I thought I would browse at the selection of Delta Faucets that Faucet.com has to offer.

Delta faucet has a wide variety of very beautiful faucets for both the kitchen and the bath. Whenever I remodel my dream home I will probably be looking for a delta faucet! I love the chrome faucet they have here. It is absolutely gorgeous in my opinion and would look great in the bathroom or a bar!

It may actually be sooner than I think since we're in need of a new bathroom faucet. The only thing I am not so sure on is the white handles, but maybe that can be changed? Yep, other handle options are available it says! Whoo Hoo!

I also found that they have free shipping in handling. How cool is that? I love free shipping and handling since we can go out of town with my husband's truck and this town has a limited selection of home remodeling products.

By the way, I would love to hear everyone's ideas for bathroom remodeling. We have two bathrooms. One is for the kids and the other is a master bath. The master bath currently only has a shower. No bathtub. The kids bathroom has a bathtub/shower head. it's the old claw foot bathtub that I absolutely love. No, we can't switch bathrooms.lol
