RV Traveling from a Small Town called, Coffeyville, KS

Living in a small town has its challenges and Coffeyville, Kansas is no stranger to a challenge.

  • There are very few mental health options for my ADHD, or my son's Autism. As a matter of fact, there is only one facility, currently in town.

  • If you're interested in adopting a healthier lifestyle, there are a few businesses that cater,  but they come with a StarBucks price tag. Most of the families in this town, simply cannot afford that luxury.

  • We are limited on the availability of jobs unless you don't mind working fast food at minimum wage or foundry work.

  • The town itself has a lot of downfalls. For example: The county is one of the highest county taxes in the area and small businesses like El Charros are feeling the financial struggle due to on going construction projects like 11th Street.

So with that said, we have decided it's time to move out of this town and travel the U.S. Moving out of Kansas has been a goal of ours for a long time, I just never considered traveling full-time until here more recently.

Nevertheless, the biggest challenge will be the financial goals we need to accomplish in order to travel full-time in an RV.

Currently, I'm busting my butt at a local business as a head housekeeper. The pay is barely above minimum wage. It's a job that really takes its toll on the body as well.

There are a lot of other challenges we will need to take before we can just hit the road also. Getting rid of all of the stuff we have accumulated over the years will be another challenge for us.

Not to mention preparing my youngest son for his own goals and challenges he will face.

One step at a time. One step at a time. So without further ado....

Goals for February 2020:

  1. Sell my 1986 Honda Magna Motorcycle -  This is a huge goal for me, because I purchased the bike on a whim. At one point in my life, I thought I wanted to own a motorcycle, but over the recent years, my goals have changed. The funny thing is, I've owned my bike for several summers now and not once have I tried to learn to ride it. The only thing I am doing is wasting money just to own it, in tags, insurance and taxes on a yearly basis. Plus, it's one less vehicle we have to take when we travel. So it's just time. I am hoping to get $1000 out of it at least.
  2. Promote my Novel series, "The Generation." -  It took a decade to write the book and another decade to decide to publish my Novel, "The Generation" through Amazon. Now let's hope it doesn't take another decade to be on the best seller's list, shall we?
  3. Clean out the last two drawers of my chest of drawers - This one seems fairly simple enough, but not when you have ADHD. It's a must to minimize everything if we are going to travel in an RV, however.
  4. Finish one craft - Here we go again with the ADHD. But if I can finish one craft, not only am I pairing down stuff I have, but I can also sell it for a profit! Side hustle?
  5. Set Up Disability for my son's Autism - I'll be honest here. This one is already ongoing. We are actually waiting to hear back on the claim, so I may have to check up on this one since I have not heard anything from the government since Christmas Break. The one thing I did not do was guardianship for now, simply because it's a costly court date I cannot afford. We chose Power of Attorney instead, since the only two needs for him currently are financial aid and medical.

And let the goals begin!

NYC

Katheren shivered as the rain fell down hard and fast and then darkness crept all around. How the hell could she have been so stupid. How the hell could she have let Laurie talk her into going to NYC alone. It was suppose to have just been a weekend trip to experience the finer side of NYC, Katheren had yet to discover. She would have been better off going rv camping with her family.

But now, after three train rides and a taxi cab driver who refused to go any further than 21st after dusk, the trip had suddenly turned into a nightmare leaving Katheren stranded in a part of the city even the roughest criminals refused to be in.

"Damn Laurie." Another shiver jolted through her body only this time it had been from pure fear, not the cold damp rain. And then she stopped.

What was that? Had that shadow just moved? It couldn't have. She was alone. There was no one else there. Was there? She screamed.

Leaving Las Vegas

For a while I lived in Las Vegas, NV. I really don't recommend living there. It's nothing but dry desert and a tourist trap from hell. I know a few friends who would love to argue though. However, visiting Las Vegas.. Well, I highly recommend it. There is so much to do and see there and chances are you'll never get bored. You might even see a few celebrities if the idea thrills you. If you don't really know the city though, a Las Vegas travel guide is something you'll want to look for.

Without one, finding the best places to stay and visit can be a not so fun experience.

You Can Get Your Passport Online!

When I got my passport several years ago, I had to go to a post office to have the passport done. While it's not a big inconvenience to some people, when you live in a big city and have to drive 20-30 minutes, plus parking meter fees, etc. It most certainly can be!

That is why when I found out about www.americanpassport.com I was ecstatic. I mean, sure.. It's a bit too late for me since I already have a passport for travel, but if I do ever decide to go anywhere international, I can go through them to get my passport. And of course so can my husband who is not a social person much anymore. if he can stay inside of the house vs. headed outdoors downtown, he'll do it!

So kuddos to the american passport website. I can definitely see people excited about this one!

When I Do....

I got to thinking. When we do finally get to take a vacation, we're going to need a set of luggage since we have none. If you're wondering how that is possible. Well, I really haven't had a vacation since I left the nest and I've never bothered to ask my other half why he has none. So yeah, I think we deserve to have a decent set of luggage for vacation.

I was looking at The Luggage Source's selection of Luggage and found that their Swiss Army Luggage has some nice features like: wheeled duffel bags. If I can get away with not having to carry my luggage around... That is Just Awesome! What's even better is they have a business bag (The Swiss Army Werks Business Cases) that I can tote my piece of crap laptop around in.hehe

A Funny Little Thing Called Life

My father called just a few moments ago. He's decided to go to Oklahoma City for my son's surgery after all. It's funny that his reason now for not wanting to go prior, is that he wasn't sure he'd have the money to go.... because I wasn't sure of an exact time of the surgery. It's also the same reason my mother did not want to go. Now it gets even more interesting, simply because... I was paying for the trip to and from OKC and he knows that.

I'm really debating whether to trust him on his word again. There is a big what if running through my head right now. Like, What If he backs out once again and this time at the very last minute? I think I will continue to look for a back up ride, or some form of transportation, just in case.

So this may very well be a big rock lifted off of my shoulder. I certainly hope so because if my father backs out once again, the Bitch in me will come out! Funny however... because I can't see my mother wanting to get up at 230am to go to OKC. I know her well enough to know that she is going to put up a fight with my father about it. Sigh.

After this trip to OKC I am saving back the paychecks to purchase a car that I can drive. No... If and Or Buts about it!
