The Trip

"If I take out several cash advances, I'll have enough for the trip." Alayna smiled at her friend Joshua who was frowning at her brilliant idea.

"Why don't you forgo the trip if you can't afford it, hun." He said.

"No way. I'm not letting you have all the fun." Alayna loved her best friend, but he was never one for taking risks and budgets was his favorite seven letter word next to gayness.

She watched Joshua let out a heavy sigh, then give his whatever shrug, which made her smile. They were going to Las Vegas to see Criss Angel and she couldn't wait!

Working For the City

I have a friend who works for the Independence, Kansas Police Department and I've often wondered if they have the option of purchasing their own clothing or if they must abide by the city's choices.

I'm really not even sure if he needs to wear something like tactical pants, but if so, I wonder if he or even the city could save some money by shopping around. The pants come in three different colors which is nice and I noticed there's plenty of pockets for storage.

I think the pants would also be great for anyone looking for a pair of work pants, especially if you're looking for comfort! What do you think?

Hey! Where's the Easter Egg Hunt???

Today we went to our local Park for the annual Easter Egg Hunt. As it turns out, there was no hunting involved. We ended up standing in a long line waiting to see the easter bunny inside of a building. Then the kids were ushered from table to table to pick up easter goodies. Their goodies consisted of a bag of shelled sunflower seeds (not bright for little ones) and Christmas candy! All in all it was very disappointing, at least for those of us who remember what a REAL Easter Egg Hunt is like.

I'm not sure what our city was thinking when they planned this year's Easter Egg Hunt, but I'm terribly disappointed in how they organized, what should have been a fun and eventful time for the kids and their families. Whatever happened to the days when kids would have to search for the easter eggs to find treats? I understand that some kids are greedy when it comes to easter goodies, but there are ways around that. It's no reason to kill the fun in Easter Egg Hunting, like the city of Independence, Kansas has done!
