Name That Website

Have you ever wanted to create a website name like multiplevitamins.net, but just wasn't quite sure where to begin?

When I first decided to create a website name, I was totally clueless on how to really go about creating a great niche for it. In fact, I never really even understood what a niche really was. What I did was chose a website based on my writing pen name and then threw up everything under the son, but my writing work on the site itself. Big mistake if you want to really get noticed!

I mean think about it, if you're planning to sell baby products, you wouldn't want to use a website name that had the words multiple vitamins in it, would you? nope, you'd want a product that had to do with vitamins!

You should also go for a popular niche and vitamins is very hot. There are a lot of want to get healthy people out there and they want the best products on the market to help them get healthy!

And finally, when choosing a website name, be sure that it's within reasonable length. Your visitors don't want to have to remember, let alone type in a website name that's a mile long! So keep it short or chances are they'll move on to someone else!

I've been thinking about it......

..... and I think for now I am going to cancel my website. I'm not under any type of contract so it will be fine for me to do so. Right now it's simply a waste of $10 a month until I can get things figured out and so far it's cost me over $200 without realizing it. WOW. That's $200 I could have used elsewhere. So when the due date comes up in a few weeks for the website it's time to say goodbye.

Blogging Thoughts

Something very recent has been noted to me and I've been giving a lot of thought on what to do. I use my website and blog to bring in income since it's difficult to get a job in this small town and daycare is unbelievable.

For a while now I've been thinking about whether or not to add a blog in addition to this one to my website. I have finally made that decision and I will be doing just that. As of right now I have been posting updates on my website which serves basically as a blog, so I will continue to do so.

I will be updating the website with RSS feed as well as some other features. If you have not visited my website, you can find it at: www.theinsanewriter.com

It still needs a lot of work, but feel free to tell me what you think.

Writing for a Purpose

One of the biggest things I am battling right now is what sort of content to put on my website. My blog is easy enough because I can just talk about day to day things that are going on, but I want to do something different with my website.

I've considered working with budgeting ideas due to the economy since it's a very popular topic right now. A lot of families are looking for ways to trim their financial budget and still live without feeling like they're being seriously deprived from everything. It's hard I know, I've been there.

One of the things that I discovered was that you can actually buy content for your website. Places like Purecontent.com are offering content in various forms for a reasonable fee.

Although sites like these are not for me, there are many website owners who are not all that fond of coming up with their own content or simply don't have the time. For myself however, I find that keeping things real is a much better approach. I don't mind having an author post something on my site once in a while, but I write because I love writing. When I'm having someone else write it defeats the purpose of my passion and readers are not able to get to know me.

What do you think?

Websites and Holidays

I have begun working on my new website. It will be a long and tedious process, but in the end I believe it will be worth it. I also want to branch out on other websites when I have more time.

Right now things have been really insane around here. We did manage to spend some time with my family for the holidays this year. I have not seen any of my family since my wedding, so it was nice.

But if you're married, as you probably know, it's difficult to maintain peace between families when there are certain traditions each year. It's even worse when you have parents that are divorced. So trying to juggle holidays between mom and dad on both sides can be difficult.

There was also another reason I needed to be there this year for my family, but I'm not going to go into details on that here. This Christmas we're planning to see the husband's family. He has grandparents that he hasn't seen in a very long time, so it will be nice for him to be able to do that.

Anyway, I got a little sidetracked. I do have my website up and running, but it needs a lot of work as I said. Feel free to drop by if you'd like: www.theinsanewriter.com

It's Official

Well, it's finally official. I finally took the plunge and created an official website. I haven't begun work on the site yet, but when I do I'll post the link here. I'm really excited because this gives me the opportunity to explore other options as far as my love for writing and my other passions in life.

I am also hoping that the new website will allow me to continue to work from home online since daycare is no longer an option for the kids. The one thing I absolutely hate when it comes to small towns is the fact that there are no daycares available for night shift workers. Such a shame since so many people work night shift here and very few have family that they can rely on.

Kicking Around Website Ideas

For a while now I've been kicking around the idea of my own website instead of just a blog. Several years ago I did happen to have my own website for my writing. The only reason I don't currently have it is because I never really did anything major with it and it wasn't worth the price at the time.

Since I've been focusing on freelance writing with the Insane Writer Blog, I've had some success and I've been wondering if I transfer this blog to a domain name, would it be even better? The only thing I don't really like about a web hosting blog is the fact that it that there is a lot more upkeep involved to keep it running smoothly.

And then there's the question of where do you turn to when you're looking for a good web host or domain name service? Who do you choose? I like the idea behind Web Hosting Geeks and their reviews and ratings on the best services for web hosting and domain names. It gives me an idea of what's worth it and what's not.

What do you think? is web hosting geeks worth the visit? Would you use it if you were looking for web hosting services?

Website Options For the Future

Someday I want to set up a website where visitors are not limited to what they can read from me and I'm not limited to what I can write. In the mean time blogging is the next best thing.

However, when I do make that switch, I've often wondered if I'll be able to keep up with the design and tech stuff of the website. A lot of times I can get very busy with writing articles and other times I find myself having to take frequent breaks because of kids. So where in the world would I have time to sit down and design an entire website, plus keep up with everything else? I really don't have an answer for that, but I do know that there are some companies out there who are willing to help.

Companies like Network Solutions who's web design company offers one on one consultations so they know just what I want my website to look like. Then they design my website with my approvals. It's great to know that I'm still in charge, even though I'm not doing the work.

At the moment I'm only seeing a few different package choices. One is a simple package for about $500, plus a monthly fee for hosting while the other is much more detailed for creating existing websites and offering more design choices. It's price is about $1400, but there's no monthly fee for hosting.

If it were me I'd go with the cheaper of the packages and then maybe consider advancing to the other package in the future. What do you think? Is this something worth really looking into?

I've Been Thinking

I've been thinking a lot lately about getting a domain address. I've noticed that a lot of the clients I get from payperpost are requesting less blogger.com addresses and a lot more domain addresses. My problem is I really can't afford a domain at the moment. I have more important necessities to get like a vehicle. So for now I'll continue to dream about a real website and leave that stuff to the true money knowledge makers.

However, just because I can't afford a good website, doesn't mean I can't look at all of the great website designers out there. Take Network Solutions for instance. Now there's a nice web design service for you. You can even get a domain name through them. Pretty cool I think.

You can even go with a do-it-yourself package for $4.95 a month. Not bad and you get your own domain name for free! Hmmm. Is it too good to be true? What do you think?

Network Solutions also has Professional Website Designing Services for those who want to leave the technical mumbo jumbo to the big dogs. I'd be designing my own stuff, thank you very much! But, hey that's just me! I love web designing and playing around with HTML stuff. Knowledge is power. But, either way you go about it, a real website is definitely the way to go.

Get Angry and Vent Your Frustrations

A few weeks ago I was introduced to a website called, "Go Angry At Us." "Go Angry At Us is a unique website in the sense that it allows visitors to express their emotions anonymously or not, through posts on the website. Then, other viewers may read their posts an offer advice or words of encouragement to those visitors.

There is no cost to post emotions or give advice. I think this is a great website since it can help so many people in so many ways. The only drawback that I did find to the website is the fact that some of the viewers responses are cruel and making fun of those just needing help. Then, there is the fact that not all of the posts can really be taken seriously. Like their latest post about cold pizza. Still, many of these posts are real issues to most, serious or not.

Care Fair

While I have a few extra moments, I thought I would give you a bit of background (sort of a review, I guess) on who I work for. I started working for Care Fair last August. My first experience with them was a bit hesitant because in the past I have found getting a long with most of my bosses as a negative experience. Nathalie however, is different. What really impressed me was the fact that I received an unexpected package in the mail from her last December. In it was a wonderful Christmas basket filled with yummy goodies and a thank you note from the Care Fair team. I was so touched that I sent her a thank you note. In return she was touched by my thank you note.lol Lately things have been a bit slow with my writing and while Nathalie could easily dismiss me as a writer, she hasn't and I am very thankful for that! She has been a wonderful boss and I truly enjoy working for her and the rest of the Care Fair team.

When you drop by their website, you'll notice it is beauty related. It's another reason I enjoy working there! I have always been fascinated with beauty and at one point considered a career in cosmetology. I love makeovers and I love seeing the wonderful expressions on the faces of those who are made over. The one unique thing about Care Fair is that there is a section included for Men! You'll also find product reviews and a dictionary based on cosmetics!

If you enjoy beauty as much as I do, definitely check them out! You won't be disappointed!
