Stop Complaining About the High Gas Prices and Start Walking!

A few days ago, I discovered there's a facebook page going around titled, Don't Buy Gas on April 15th. At first glance it may seem like a great cause to get our government to lower the gas prices, and with the vast amount of facebook users who've clicked yes to the date, you might think it would certainly be worth the effort.

However, here's what I think. Even if all of those facebook users didn't pump gas for one day, one day isn't really going to help. For all anyone know if, those users may choose to pump gas the day before, which may actually cause a bigger increase at the pump.

In addition, you've got to consider our truck drivers, work crew, and other companies that must drive vehicles, who have no choice but to pump gas that day.

If you're really upset over the price of gas at the pump, stop driving and start walking, or ride a bicycle. Or if you must drive to work, carpool, buy a car reasonable on gas, or just take the train or bus. You'll not only save money on gas, you'll save the environment too!

But for pete's sake, stop complaining about the gas price! If you don't like it stop paying for it. Just remember, one time is it going to accomplish much!

Saving Money and Hormone Issues Thanks to the Kansas Cows

Since we still have the rental car until this evening, yesterday I made a trip to the grocery store. Normally we go to the store at least once a week, but because gas prices have gone insane, I decided to stock up for a few weeks worth of groceries.

Usually I spend on an average about $100 a week for groceries, but this time I only spent a little under $40 a week. That's really good, especially since our cabinets were completely bare! I managed to save quite a bit because I ended up cutting out beef and dairy entirely. Instead, I stocked up on soy milk and cheese, fish, turkey and veggie meatless crumbles. I didn't do this to save money either. I did it because my husband and I think he may have a hormonal imbalance (which could explain his mood swings, lack of energy and foggy memory lately). I was doing some research about hormonal imbalance in both men and women and learned that one of the major culprits could be due to the chemicals and hormones that manufacturers add to beef and milk.

I honestly don't know if it will really make a difference, but it's a healthier choice in the long run anyhow.

Are Internet Prices on the Rise?

With the cost of gas prices on the rise, it really makes me wonder what's going to happen to the cost of internet. I'd imagine most people will not be able to travel to see family this summer, so for those who can't, there is always internet access.

However, I am now wondering if internet fees will go up as well. Post office stamps are already on the rise again, so rising the price of internet wouldn't really surprise me.

A few days ago someone was talking to a truck driver who told him that in order to fill up his truck, it cost him over $1000 dollars. That's a lot of money! What's even worse is gas prices are not even at it's all time high right now! I wonder what companies will do once gas prices do rise? I am sure somewhere in this insane world, there will be a riot or some form of strike.

Maybe those hybrid cars need to be a little bit less so that we can all afford one. Better yet, maybe they need to start making hybrid semi-trucks. Then again, hybrid uses electric and there goes our environment when that happens. So either we'll end up walking or riding in horse and buggy style or we're just screwed! Take your pick!!!!

Gonna Have to Buy a Car....

One thing that I am in desperate need of is a car. I don't need a new one because to be honest, right now I can't afford a new vehicle. Besides, there's nothing wrong with a used vehicle like a used ford from the Buy Your Car website in the UK.
While I may not live in the UK, I am sure I am not alone in needing a car. Right now, I am able to get to and from work since my husband is able to drop me off and a friend is able to pick me up. However, that may very well change in the future and soon! I've already walked the three-mile journey home once, I really don't want to do that again! With gas prices on the rise, a car that is reasonable on gas is a must for me! Since summer is approaching, what I would love to do is buy a bike. Even a simple mo-pad would do.

The one great thing about Buy Your Car's website is, they offer both privately owned and dealership owned vehicles. You can look for a car by specific details such as, make, model, year and even color. How insane is that? The website also offers tips on what to look for when buying a car, what sort of questions to ask the seller and they even provide you with an 18 points buyer’s checklist.

I wonder if there is a US based website that can do all of that???

Saving Money My Way

Lately with prices rising in both food and gas, many families are beginning to struggle. Most households are only earning at a minimum wage and that is not nearly enough for today's rising prices.

Yet, it's not just low income families who are suffering. Middle class families are being effected by the price rises as well.

I know here we are paying $3.55 a gallon for gas! Since my husband drives an old pickup truck, we tend to spend around $60 a week or more for gas. One way we help to make our dollar stretch is by limiting our driving. We drive to and from work (he drops me off and I walk home or have a friend pick me up) and plan a once a week trip to our local supermarket.We also try to plan any other trips on that same day.

Even though food prices are rising, cutting back on food is not something we will be doing. However, we're not opposed to trying off brands in both gorcheries and household goods, to save some money.

One of my favorite areas to shop is the day old bread rack. It's usually the first place I hit when we got to the store. Day old breads can be frozen and will last at least a week, sometimes a bit longer.

To save money on milk, we will stop by braums ice cream store, since their milk is a dollar cheaper than our local supermarket. Plus Braum's milk is much better in taste and free of hormones.

Another way we are able to save money is by browsing the local yard sales for clothing, household goods, books, toys, etc. Despite what some people think, you can find very good gently used clothing at fantasitc rates.

A few weekends ago, we stopped at one yard sale where I was able to find some great clothes at a dime each! Many of the clothes were brand new! The lady who was holding the sale just wanted to get rid of the clothing. I was able to buy a brand new daskin jacket for a dime! My best bargain yet!!

Last weekend my husband was able to find peices to one of his favorite games (Heroscape) for fifty cents! We also found a gently used leap pad that came with educational games that all of our kids can enjoy.

The above are just a few ways we are able to make a dollars stretch during these insane times.

Our Ridiculous Gas Prices!!!

I am hoping in June to be able to drive down south to pick up my kids, so that they can spend time with me. Lately it's been a big worry because gas prices have sky rocketed!

Since our town is small enough we were able to walk downtown to where we needed to go. However, I missed going to the library, thanks to those damn gas prices! Luckily my fiance car pools to work with a friend, which is great!

After doing a little surfing through one of my favorite sites, I found a program that is offering $100 in gas for $25 at whatever gas station we choose. What's the catch? There is none. That's the great part about it.

So now I am really thinking about taking advantage of the opportunity for this summer's trip south. I'm already taking the opportunity to share this with everyone else because it's a great thing. How we get $100 in free gas is because of advertising. Pretty cool, I think. I'm for it anyway!
