What's Wrong With a Good Sale?

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm a person that loves a good sale. Now while I'm not one that won't just buy anything that's on sale, I simply can't understand why some people will avoid them like a plague. They absolutely must by everything at full price and won't bother with sales or clearance items. My question is why? I know someone who does this and then complains because they never have any money. Well DUHHHH!!!!

If you want to have more money, take a look at sales. There's nothing wrong with them. It's part of the reason why we're able to enjoy good foods and have a little extra to rent a movie or two. I shop sales! What's your excuse?

Me Clean? What????

Me get creative with cleaning and be energy efficient both at the same time? Not likely. I'd rather let the cats clean the house than have to clean it all on my own. Just recently I got really excited because I discovered a new use for the cats. They make great dust mops! Just swish them around on the floor and your floor is nice a sparkling new again!

I don't own a dishwasher except for the cats and dog. Maybe that counts? So how else am I energy efficient when it comes to cleaning? Well, I simply don't clean. I don't have a reason to. Sooo shouldn't that be a huge way to save our world? Just don't clean. Let the cats and dog have at it? What do you think?

Maybe I could use just a little help? Like maybe I can substitute the cats with the new Dirt Devil ACCuCharge for instance. It saves energy by using Energy Star, while you clean the house. How insane is that? I'd love to save on my electric bill. We could all use a little help with the bills and help the environment in the process. Hmmm. Should I? I dunno. I’ll have to think about it. I’m having way to much fun using the cats as dust mops.

Saving Money My Way

Lately with prices rising in both food and gas, many families are beginning to struggle. Most households are only earning at a minimum wage and that is not nearly enough for today's rising prices.

Yet, it's not just low income families who are suffering. Middle class families are being effected by the price rises as well.

I know here we are paying $3.55 a gallon for gas! Since my husband drives an old pickup truck, we tend to spend around $60 a week or more for gas. One way we help to make our dollar stretch is by limiting our driving. We drive to and from work (he drops me off and I walk home or have a friend pick me up) and plan a once a week trip to our local supermarket.We also try to plan any other trips on that same day.

Even though food prices are rising, cutting back on food is not something we will be doing. However, we're not opposed to trying off brands in both gorcheries and household goods, to save some money.

One of my favorite areas to shop is the day old bread rack. It's usually the first place I hit when we got to the store. Day old breads can be frozen and will last at least a week, sometimes a bit longer.

To save money on milk, we will stop by braums ice cream store, since their milk is a dollar cheaper than our local supermarket. Plus Braum's milk is much better in taste and free of hormones.

Another way we are able to save money is by browsing the local yard sales for clothing, household goods, books, toys, etc. Despite what some people think, you can find very good gently used clothing at fantasitc rates.

A few weekends ago, we stopped at one yard sale where I was able to find some great clothes at a dime each! Many of the clothes were brand new! The lady who was holding the sale just wanted to get rid of the clothing. I was able to buy a brand new daskin jacket for a dime! My best bargain yet!!

Last weekend my husband was able to find peices to one of his favorite games (Heroscape) for fifty cents! We also found a gently used leap pad that came with educational games that all of our kids can enjoy.

The above are just a few ways we are able to make a dollars stretch during these insane times.

Work and Bathroom Faucets

One of our complaint's today at work was about the water pressure not at full speed through our bathroom faucets. It's not the first time someone has complained, but I certainly hope it will be our last.

Interestingly enough, the water pressure is fine in other rooms, so I actually wonder if the bathroom faucets in those particular rooms, have something to do with it. I do know that nasty corrosion has been known to cause enough build up to slow water pressure down. Either way it goes, our hotel does need new faucets.


I wonder if they have a specific company they go through or if they can leave their options open for businesses like faucet.com. The great thing about Faucet.com is, there is no sales tax outside of the state of New York. Which makes it perfect for us small town folk in the good old state of Kansas. They also have free shipping for orders over $99 which lets us save even more. Hmm... I wonder if the owner of our hotel, would be interested.

Pencil Sniffing

A few days ago I received some very interesting products in the mail.

1. Insta Snow Fake Snow Powder
2. Smencils Gourmet Scented Pencil
3. Ambient Fire Video Fireplace DVD
While all of these products are certainly interesting, I must say that the Smencils Gourmet Scented Pencil really caught my attention. In all honesty, I'm not really sure what use there is for a scented gourmet pencil. I can however, attest to the fact that it does smell like cotton candy. Maybe if I were a huge cotton candy fan it might make me crave cotton candy, but a scented pencil just doesn't seem all that useful to me.

I did love the fact that these pencils are made from 100% recycled newspapers. How cool is that! A pencil that isn't taking away from our environment. And I do have to admit the pencil does smell yummy. Might be a problem when you're trying to work and suddenly have a craving for cotton candy! lol

This might be fun stocking stuffers for the kids or someone who is a big fan of cotton candy, but for me, I could care less whether it is scented or not. I would however, buy these for the fact that they are recycled from newspapers and not taking our trees away.
