Accidents

I think it's honestly time the DMV does something more about dangerous drivers. It's been twice in less than a year that an elderly driver has caused an accident and almost seriously hurt someone.

Now I am not saying that it's just the elderly or that all of our elderly should not have licenses, but when you're endangering the lives of others, you really should not be driving.

Several months ago as my husband and I were leaving Braum's parking lot, an elderly gentlemen forgot to look behind him as he was backing out. Not only did he forget to look, he continued to back out even though our truck was preventing him from moving as he continued to push it out of the way. Even worse was the fact that he could not hear us as my husband got out of the truck to let him know what was happening. It took 5 good hard knocks on the elderly gentleman's window and nearly hitting my husband with his car before the gentlemen realized my husband was even there.

Today we wittnessed an elderly lady sit in the path of traffic trying to decide what to do when there was a line of cars behind her waiting for her to decide. Then we watched her inch forward and the next thing we knew she was gunning the gas pedal and jumping over a the curb and slamming into the fence of McDonald's parking lot. Luckily no one was hurt.

I understand that accidents do happen, but what worries me is when it's caused by the pride of someone who believes their freedom will be taken away if they cannot drive or they believe they are invincible on the road and have every right to do what they please. I remember the horrific accident that happened when we first moved to our home. The man was speeding and wasn't wearing a helmet on his bike. He died from his injuries and while it was a very sad loss, I often wonder why he was stubborn enough not to wear a helmet and why he was speeding when he knew the laws.

Just me Rambling

If you've ever been in a car accident then you know how worrisome they can be. You worry whether everyone is okay in both vehicles and then you worry about how bad the damage is on your vehicle and theirs. And finally, you worry if your car insurance is going to skyrocket because of the accident. I've been in enough accidents to know how nerve wracking they can be. I think the worst was when the car hydroplaned and a pool stick came 2 inches from killing me. Yep, a true story.

One of the first things I noticed when my husband got his new truck was the major fender dent on the driver side of the vehicle. It had been made from the previous owner and I wonder what went through their mind when the accident happened. And then it dawned on me that they had obviously never had the damage repaired.

So I wonder did they not have the right cover to fix the damage or maybe they were at fault and the insurance company refused to repair it. Or could it have just been that they blew the money on what they considered to be more important matters rather than taking it to an auto body repair shop. We will probably never know and I'm sure in their mind it just means it's something they no longer have to worry about.

Snowing soon in Independence Kansas

Last night our local weather station called for a chance of snow. So, we brought out a bunch of movies to watch this weekend, just in case it did. Generally, most people drive in snow and have no problems with it.

However, you do not know what my husband's truck is truly like. He can barely make it to and from work, so driving it out of town is a big no-no. If there are places we need to go that require driving a distance, we borrow his dad's jeep or we ride with someone else.

With the winter weather now here, one thing I know he doesn't have is tire chains. As a matter of fact, very few people do have those around here. I wonder why that is. You would think when there is a lot of snow and ice on the ground, tire chains would come in handy. Last year we had a really bad snow storm.

So bad that my ex-boss and I couldn't see coming back from Amazon. The roads were very slick and our town's highways had numerous accidents reported that year. One of them happened to be my husband who slid into a ditch on Peter Pan Rd. Luckily it wasn't a serious accident.

Riding a Motorcyle

When my dad was a teenager he got from place to place on a motorcycle. Then, one day he was injured severely. He managed to survive, but the scars will never go away.

My dad lived in a small town when his accident happened. But, motorcycles are everywhere. If you have ever driven in a big city, you know how crazy drivers can get. Now imagine trying to drive a motorcycle in a big city! It can get insane!

So, motorcycle accident lawyers Los Angeles know this. They know how easy it is to become a victim. I often wonder if celebrities like Keanu Reeves ever worry about getting hit by crazy drivers. I'm sure he does, I just hope he never needs to hire a lawyer. But if he does, it's nice to know that they're around. I just wish my dad would have had the same opportunity as Keanu Reeves does today.

Drew Barrymore Victim of an Accident

Again it seems celebrities have been victims of car accidents. This time, actress Drew Barrymore was the victim of a hit and run driver this past week. This time however, Drew Barrymore decided to take matters into her own hands and follow the other vehicle to get their license plate number.

I don't know why people think they can get away with leaving the scene of an accident. It's way too easy anymore for people to just track you down. There are cameras everywhere and if you're caught, you're bound to get yourself into more hot water in the end.

A Goodbye to Actor Heath Ledger

All I can say is wow. I love Heath Ledger's work. I think I am stunned that he was found dead today in his NYC apartment. I honestly don't know what to say. I thought at first that yahoo news was playing some sort of joke to get readers' attentions. But then when I read the article, reality hit. I just can't believe it.

I guess right now the best we can do is remember him for his great work and remember to be careful when taking something like over-the-counter medication or prescription pills.

It's not uncommon that medications happen to be the cause of so many deaths, accident or not. It's a shame that they took the life of someone so young. I never realized that he was younger than I am. Wow. I just cannot believe it.

Do You Have Enough?

Most of us have life insurance through our work, but is it really enough? What about
family life insurance? Is it really necessary?

In today's world, there is no slowing down. We now live a fast pace life and fast pace means we take more risks. What would you do if you learned that your family was killed in a car accident? Would you be able to cover arrangements. To be honest... I know I would not. I work at a simple pay that covers bills and food only. I'm not able to set anything aside. Not even health insurance. That's why it's great that global life insurance will allow me to buy up to $50,000 worth of life insurance with $1. How cool is that?

I used to think life insurance wasn't important. I was wrong.

When You're the Victim

When I lived on the east coast, the one thing I worried about was the high accident rate there. And if you're military, you might as well kiss your home state's coverage goodbye. It was one of the reason's why my old insurance company ran the other way, when they found out my ex-husband had been stationed on the east coast.

I remember one time when my ex-husband was a fault for a fender bender. We pulled over out of the way of traffic and took responsibility for our mistake. However, when the driver of the van that we'd hit found out that we'd called the police to report the accident, he left immediately.

Even though the accident was our fault, I often wonder what would have happened if it wasn't and the driver took off. What if we were seriously injured? What could we do? Where could we turn?

Even though I no longer live on the east coast, but I know there are readers who do. If you happen to be a resident of North Carolina and are not sure where to turn to, Raleigh accident lawyers can help.

They're experienced specifically in accident cases which is why they have my vote. If I am going to choose a lawyer, I want one who specializes in a specific area and not just anything and everything. It's your life we're talking about here. Why risk it with a lawyer who doesn't know much about one particular area. Look for a lawyer who knows the subject. It's your life!

Britney Spears.. Will There be Justice?

A while back I wrote about Britney Spears and her fender bender while out shopping. The good news about the fender bender? Britney has been charged in the fender bender and there's proof.

CelebTV not only shows us the accident as Britney looks at her own car and then walks away, they also got a chance to interview the victim of Britney's fender bender. Check it Out: Britney Flashback.

I really hope that Britney does swallow her fame to stardom and does the right thing by paying for damages done to the victim's car. It's all the lady is asking for. No big cash settlement, no new car..... just the damage fixed to her car. Come on Britney. It's the right thing to do and you know it.

Is Britney Spears Running Scared?

On Monday, pop-star Britney Spears was seen hitting a parked car. She then got out of her car, looked at her own car and then went on her merry little way. Truth be told, this isn't new news to the media and it certainly isn't just a celebrity matter either. The big difference is, celebrities are well-known and have a lot of money where the rest of society isn't always in the lime light and they don't have big bucks.

So what gives? Do celebrities fear the worse when they get into fender benders like Britney Spear's? It's definitely a thought. While we are not all greedy when it comes to the all mighty dollar, there are some who if given the chance, would take advantage of Britney Spear's fender bender situation. They would ask for a ridiculous amount of money that would never be asked for if it were anyone non-famous.

The result? Celebrity's like Britney Spears running scared.

It doesn't seem to be the case in Britney Spear's story, however. All the woman is asking for is the damages to her car paid for. And of course, no matter how a celebrity may look at it, it's certainly not fair to the victim involved. Of course, this might not even be the reason Britney left the scene of the accident. Whatever her reason, it was simply uncalled for.

Putting a Smile on Womens' Faces Everywhere

This was too cute not to share with our women/mom bloggers!!!
