Past

She turned the computer back on. Should she go to Wholesaleinsurance.net or just forget about it. Could they track her if she purchased insurance. Or could she just give them some random address like they did in the movies and still cash in when she needed it the most.

She could use it as part of her escape, but they'd want more information. They wouldn't just send her a check and call it good. They would want to investigate and she couldn't afford to have anyone looking into her past.

The Pain

The wreck had left her needing disability insurance. There was no doubt about that. Too many times she had awakened in the middle of the night screaming from the pain in her lower back. Sometimes if she wondered would it ever really end or would she have to live this way for the rest of her life.

There was a knock at her front door and she wondered who could be dropping by for a visit at 3am. She hoisted herself out of the chair and slowly walked across the living room to the front door. Every little step was met with excruciating pain. When she did finally make it to the door, it was exhausting to even open it.

A tall man with long dark hair wearing a leather trench coat stood in her doorway. He was soaked from the pouring rain and looked even more exhausted than she did. "Forgive me Beth. Can I come in please."

She stared at him and blinked. "Gabe?" She had not seen her ex-boyfriend since high school and the man standing before her was almost unrecognizable. Instead of the prep uniform he'd worn so long ago, he was dressed as dark as the night. And instead of the short haircut she'd remembered, it was long and un-kept. But then, there was that hint of recognition in his voice and in his steel gray eyes.

She gestured for him to come in out of the rain and as he swept past her, a sudden sense of fear rushed through her. She turned and followed him into the living room as he sat down on the sofa, leaned his head back and closed his eyes. "Thank you." He said.

"Not a problem" She replied as remembered she'd left the television on in the kitchen. "I'll be right back." She saw him nod in response, so she slowly made her way toward the kitchen.

The television was showing the news which caught her eye. The news wasn't supposed to come on for another 3 hours, but there was an emergency broadcast of some kind. She stopped in front of the tv and stared. KNTW8 was broadcasting about a killer in the area. There were three victims so far and the police were on the lookout for a man who just happened to be sitting on her living room sofa. "I'm sorry." She froze up at the sound of his voice whispering in her ear and felt his hands on her waist. "I'm so very sorry."

She closed her eyes wishing that some way, somehow she would not be victim number four. "You don't deserve the pain as they did. This is all my fault." She couldn't breathe. She wanted him to hurry up and get it over with. At least she would be free of the pain in her back. Would be free to live her life again. She just needed to be free.

But it never came. Instead, she felt him kiss her neck, then felt his hands leave her waist, and heard him whisper, "Thank you." She opened her eyes, ready to face him, to put her fears aside and ask him why. But, as she turned, she realized he was gone. And as she pushed forward in a panic to stop him from hurting anyone else, she realized something more. Something far more greater than she could ever imagine. The pain in her back was gone.

Get Your Facts Straight Mr. Farmer

It's bad enough our budget has come to a complete halt, but when our insurance company decides we owe when we already paid with proof on both parties, it gets really irritating!

I just wish they'd get their facts straight before they decide to send a notice of cancellation service, because it not only hurts the customer who actually paid, it hurts their business as well. And if they continue to jump the gun before they check the facts, don't be surprised if looking for a new insurance company is on the agenda!

A Different Type of Insurance

When my ex-in-laws had their RV, I often wondered if they had to carry some form of 5th wheel insurance.

I'm assuming they did if they had a loan to pay for their RV. Otherwise, they wouldn't be able to drive their portable home around. But, it also makes me wonder, what's the difference between auto insurance and 5th wheel? What do they cover that auto insurance doesn't?

Maybe anything that goes wrong with the inside of the RV? Or even the outside such as the septic tank? What's your opinion? Do you know anything about this type of insurance?

Sometimes it's Called Life

She'd been an insurance agent for years, so she knew the ins and outs of the business and knew the best insurance quotes for her customers. But, she wasn't satisfied with just being an agent. She wanted more in life and now that the economy had slowed down business, she figured it was time to pursue her dreams and move on.

But beneath her determination was also a woman who allowed others to take control of her life. To tell her she needed to stop taking risks and start looking at the reality of life.

These were the same people who worked day in and day out for a paycheck, hating their job and hating their life. The very same people who if they could, would give up their lives because they truly believed there was no future.

But if she could delete all of those people from her life, she'd do it. She really would.

If It's Worth it

Some cheap auto insurance may be worth it if you need full coverage. But lately many people have resorted to straight liability since it saves a ton of money, especially when you own an older vehicle like my husband and I do.

Currently we have 3 vehicles, but one is not covered by insurance since it's tagged as off-road. Then there's the husband's truck that does run and my van. If it ever came down to having to sell one of the vehicles I'm pretty sure the van would be the first to go, even though the truck won't hold our entire family. My husband can be pretty stubborn headed at times and to him a truck is a must have to haul his fishing and camping gear, even if it means there's just not enough room for everyone to ride in it. And the third vehicle is a family heirloom, which I must agree should stay that way. So if that time ever comes we may very well end up walking to wherever we need to go!

Technology VS. the Old Fashioned Way

I don't know about the rest of the world, but I started paying our insurance online instead of in person. At first my husband wasn't too happy about it since he likes to have cash in hand and see where the money is being spent, but after a while he's decided he doesn't mind not having to talk to our insurance agent when it's really not necessary. It's really a time saver for the most part since our insurance company isn't too far from where we live, but still it's well worth it in my opinion.

I know my family still pays bills the old fashioned way even if it means driving an hour or so away just to pay that bill. Now they don't drive clear to another state if it's hundreds of miles away (instead they send a money order), but if it's near by, they drive there. In my opinion that's a lot of gas money they could be saving. But then again they don't have a computer and I think in a way it's a way of getting them out of the house.

"Have you ever heard of motorhome insurance?" The man asked the insurance agent who seemed distracted by her broken nail tip. She looked up at the man and cringed as if he was a monster from some horror movie.

"Of Course." She tried to put on a smile, but it was even obvious to him that it was fake.

"I'm interested in purchasing some for my RV." He said dropping a wad of cash on the desk in front of her.

"Ooookaay." She said staring at the cash. He knew exactly what she was thinking. He was some creep who'd just robbed someone and was pulling a fast one on her to distract her while he robbed the insurance agency. Of course she was wrong, but he would never be able to convince her of that.

So instead, he gripped the handle of the knife he held behind his back and said, "I'm not here to hurt you, I need your help."

The Increasing Cost of Insurance and Taxes in Independence, Kansas

As of our last renewal date, our insurance increased. This concerns me because prior we had a really great friend who worked for the insurance company that we deal with. Now that she is no longer working there, she is unable to help us specifically with the higher cost of our home and auto rates.

And while the owner is still there, it is often difficult to work with him because he doesn't always understand what we need no matter how clear we make it. So I'm wondering if we'll need to look elsewhere for cheap auto insurance in the near future.

I think the reason the insurance has gone up is because this city and county continues to raise taxes. We learned not too long ago that it is cheaper to live in northern Kansas or northern Oklahoma than to live here.

In northern Oklahoma a friend of my husband's is paying $284 a year in taxes on a $100,000 home and $44 a year for taxes on a 2000 vehicle! That's insane compared to the $1220 a year we pay on our $60,000 home and $56 a year in taxes on the hubby's 1979 vehicle!!!

The Disadvantage of Being Self-Employed

Unfortunately one of the disadvantages of being self-employed I have discovered, is that you're on your own when it comes to health and life insurance benefits. So lately I've been doing a lot of research on both.

The main reason is because I am still not able to get on my husband's insurance at this time. It seems that every time he calls, we're given a later month/date on when we can enroll me on his insurance. And without it, I am unable to be seen by a doctor unless I have big bucks.

So I've finally became fed up and I've been looking into things like term life insurance quotes and health quotes on my own. It's not easy and I've found than many insurance companies are very expensive! So until I can decide what is what and where I am going from here, I've changed my eating habits for the better and I'm still doing yoga!

Sick

I thought by now I would be getting over my sickness, but it seems I am only getting worse. Every time I cough I get to the point that I stop breathing. The only reason why I haven't been to a doctor yet is because I don't have insurance. The insurance my husband has won't allow it because my husband missed the window of opportunity to put me on the insurance plan. He only had about a week to add me and because he works so much, he wasn't able to get a hold of human resources.

Speaking of work, they're now considering having him and everyone else in his department work 7 days a week. They've already done this with another department and the results were disastrous. Someone died because they fell asleep at the wheel from exhaustion from work and lack of sleep. I'm surprised the company isn't under investigation for this. I didn't think they could make employees work 7 days a week permanently.

What Insurance is Really Necessary?

This morning one of my co-workers was telling me about how expensive it is to keep all of the different insurance policies she has on her family. I know that having insurance for some things is necessary, but where is there a limit to what is really needed.

Take for instance, term life insurance. For some people this may very well be something to have on your side. For me however, it's not something I need or want at the moment. But, that's my own personal opinion. I am very sure many of my readers will probably disagree with me. Life can be short and life insurance is definitely a must for those who have bills they will leave behind, among other expenses.

Term life insurance was something a friend of mine's father didn't have. He was killed in a tragic car wreck a few weeks ago.My friend was lucky enough that some of the funeral expenses were covered by the VFW.

Have you thought about what you will do if you knew your life could very well end tomorrow? Are you prepared or will you leave your family the expenses and debts you have or may very well accumulate? If not, term life insurance may very well be something to consider.

Road Blocks

I've been trying for months and months to buy a vehicle of my own. Every time I get close enough to buying one, something always goes wrong.

I am now hoping by the end of February/beginning of March to finally end that road block and purchase a vehicle. Once I do, I know I will need insurance. I just wonder how expensive it's going to be. I remember when I lived on the west coast how expensive car insurance was!

I am sure it is no different in Modesto, California where family lives. Cost of living alone is really expensive there, so why pay more than what you have to for something like car insurance.

When You're the Victim

When I lived on the east coast, the one thing I worried about was the high accident rate there. And if you're military, you might as well kiss your home state's coverage goodbye. It was one of the reason's why my old insurance company ran the other way, when they found out my ex-husband had been stationed on the east coast.

I remember one time when my ex-husband was a fault for a fender bender. We pulled over out of the way of traffic and took responsibility for our mistake. However, when the driver of the van that we'd hit found out that we'd called the police to report the accident, he left immediately.

Even though the accident was our fault, I often wonder what would have happened if it wasn't and the driver took off. What if we were seriously injured? What could we do? Where could we turn?

It's Never Ending it Seems

Ever since I started working at my new job I've noticed a sharp pain and numbness in my hand again. Last night it was bad enough that my husband was even concerned. It's happened once before when I worked at a wire factory. Well today the sharp shooting pain and numbness has travel up to my elbow. I can take a good guess that it's carpal tunnel. Sigh.

The one major option that I have is surgery, but that is not an option for me since I cannot afford it due to the lack of insurance and I'm not a fan of surgery. I could go with the insurance provided with the company I am working for, but their cost is extreme and I pay 20% of all bills. However, if it all boils down to it, I will probably do so.

I was looking up natural remedies and did find that vitamin b6 and b12  can help, so I may look into that.

Yoga has also been mentioned as a way to relieve carpal tunnel. I don't really have time for yoga, however. As a matter of fact I don't really have time for any type of exercise other than what I do at work.

Uggghh

For the past couple of days I've had that feeling of coming down with a cold or something. I hate being sick! My throat is draining and I can feel liquid in my chest. Last year I was sick almost the entire winter. I don't think it really helps that my husband likes to keep a fan blowing on us when he sleeps at night. It doesn't matter if it's below zero outside... That fan is always on! I'm not talking a ceiling fan either. This is one of those box fans and it sits at the foot of the bed. Last year he sat it on the end table where it blew in our faces.

My stepson was sick all last week, so I am now wondering if I caught something from him. I also found out that there's a lot of kids out because of strep throat. My husband still hasn't put me on his insurance at work, so I am not sure what I am going to do if I get really sick. I guess I need to see if I can qualify for free or low-cost insurance around here.

I think I am going to take some vitamin C and lay down for a bit. I didn't get much sleep last night either. I was thinking I would get into bed earlier than I had the night before, but when I finally got a chance to look at the clock, it was already midnight! Boy how time flies when you're wrapped up in life..lol
